Gerry
King has
been singing for as long as he can remember, starting with the junior
choir of the
First Presbyterian Church in Missoula, Montana, where his mother was the
choir director. He began his professional music career as a French Horn
player in Vancouver, BC, under the tutelage Robert Creech. After performing
with orchestras as diverse as the Vancouver Symphony and Tommy Banks Orchestra,
he began working as a singer and instrumentalist with the Renaissance
group the Towne Waytes during which time he studied voice with Jacob Hamm.
He has sung with numerous cathedral choir across North America in cities
as far apart as Vancouver, Houston, Winnipeg, and Edmonton. Gerry has
sung for many years with Renaissance Singers in Kitchener, Ontario and
has performed as a soloist with them and with many other choirs in the
region. In recent years, with his wife and accompanist Carol King, he
has performed many Lieder recitals throughout Canada and the US, including
several performances of Winterreise.
Carol
Missio-King studies piano and accompanying under Robert Rogers
and has since worked extensively as an accompanist and coach, specializing
in all styles of vocal music from Music Theater to art song. Through the
years she has accompanied and coached many young and inspiring singers.
In addition to numerous performances and recitals as an accompanist both
on the West Coast and in Ontario, she has conducted the Gilbert and Sullivan
Choir and accompanied the Rainbow Chorus. Recently she has been performing
art song recitals with husband Gerry, as well as chamber recitals in and
around Southern Ontario.
